As information regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, we felt it important to communicate the following:
NYSWYSA published on 3/12/20 their position relating to the coronavirus along with position statements from both US Soccer and US Youth Soccer. Those positions can be read below. Please take a minute to review this communication.
Considering these position statements of our governing bodies and the safety of our members, the Soaring Capital Soccer Club (SCSC), will proceed as follows:
- All practices through Easter Sunday, April 12th will be cancelled.
- We expect all games, friendlies or tournaments scheduled through April 12th will be cancelled and any play which hasn’t already been cancelled, SCSC teams should not participate in those events until at least after April 12th.
- As for the Spring leagues our teams compete in, BCSA and the NYSWYSA Thruway League, we are in communication with those leagues and as those leagues communicate their guidelines, we will convey those statements to our coaches.
SCSC will communicate adjustments to the above guidelines as the situation unfolds and further information is available.

NYSWYSA Position
At this time all NYSWYSA-managed programming is cancelled until April 6th at which point we will update everyone as to future plans. This comprises any education, ODP, academies, or other programs directly owned by NYSWYSA.
For the status of any leagues (including the Thruway League), Soccer club programming or other activities you will need to contact those entities directly for their respective positions.
From US Soccer
As of today, U.S. Soccer has decided to postpone or cancel a number of scheduled events through April 30. This includes, but is not limited to, all National Team programming: Men’s, Women’s, Youth and Extended National teams; Development Academy regular season matches and the upcoming Spring Cup; all Coaching Education and Referee courses, and all Talent Identification opportunities.
From US Youth Soccer
Given recent action taken by the US Soccer Federation, heightened travel concerns, and with the health of our soccer community in mind, ALL 2020 USYS Leagues and Conference activities are SUSPENDED through April 15, 2020. USYS will be evaluating conditions on a bi-weekly basis to determine when it’s appropriate to reinstate USYS activities.
