A letter from Alisha Tenbus, a SCSC manager and parent:
I wanted to thank both of you, the City of Elmira and the Soaring Capital Soccer Club, for the use of the Eldridge Park fields and equipment for practice sessions for our Horseheads Special Olympic soccer team. The team took first place in the second division at the competition in October. The athletes were so very proud of themselves and this was the first time that many of them have ever played a team sport. I have recent gratitude from the families and the athletes and wanted to share it with your organizations.
Scott, I also wanted to recognize SCSC players who helped me run a practice so the athletes could learn how to play as a team and learn skills from watching them. The athletes were from the boys 2002 & 2003 teams- Luke, Tommy, Nick and Nate.
Thank you so very much for making such an impact on these athletes. Please feel free to use the pictures that I will send to you on your websites or social media.

On behalf of the whole SCSC Soccer Club, the real credit goes to the Special Olympic players, the SCSC players/instructors and Alisha. SCSC is thankful we could help in some small way. It is soccer experiences and stories like this that make it all worth our time. To be able to share and spread the game of soccer and touch people’s lives for the better through it is all we can ask and hope to do.
